  • Mt Kanamo, situated near to Kibber is one of the holiest mountain in Spiti. The mountain is covered with snow from one side. The mountain represents a white lady representing peace. This peak towers 5964m above sea level.

  • Itinerary

  • Day1- Registration and Orientation

    All the participant will report at Rumsu base camp, by 10 am. Registration process followed by acclimatization walk to the neighbouring village. Adventure activity* followed by orientation in the evening.

    Rumsu village is 5 km from Naggar. Participant coming via bus from Delhi or Chandigarh make sure you get down at “Patlikuhal” (pronounced as patli – cool), from there you may board a cab to Rumsu.

    Day 2- Drive to Chandrataal Lake. Camping at Chandrataal.

    We will start the day very early by 4 AM from the base camp with a jeep ride to Chandrataal Lake. The road to Chandrataal goes via Rotang Pass(13,054 ft), Chatru( 10,890 ft ) and Batal.
    Overnight at Chandrataal camping ground.

    Day 3- Drive to Kaza via Kunzum top and Ki Gompa Monastery.

    After breakfast we will start the day with a jeep ride to Kaza village( 14,000 ft ) via Kunzum top(15,000 ft). Post lunch we will go for an acclimatization to the famous Kaza Monastery. Overnight stay at Kaza.

    Day 4- Drive to Kibber via Ki-gompa monastery and Chicham .

    We will start the day with a jeep ride to Kibber via Ki-Gompa monastery. At an altitude of 4,166 meters Ki- gompa,  is the biggest monastery of Spiti Valley and a religious training centre for Lamas. It reportedly had 100 monks in 1855.

    We will end the jeep ride at Kibber village. Located 16 kms from Kaza, Kibber lies in a narrow valley on the summit of a limestone rock. Agriculture forms the backbone of the local economy and lush green fields are abundant. Overnight at Kibber village.

    Day 5- Trek to Mt. Kanamo base camp. Duration: 6 hours

    After breakfast and packed lunch we will start our trek to Mt. Kanamo base camp. The entire route  goes through a cold and dry desert kind of area with few green patches. There are no water sources on the way. One can find blue sheep, yak and flowers of the cold desert.

    Although the ascend is less but since its dry, it becomes difficult. It takes around 6 hours to reach to the camp site. Overnight in tents.

    Day 6 -Climb to Mt. Kanamo peak (6,000 meters).

    We will start the day early with breakfast and packed lunch. One should carry a minimum of 2-3 liters of water. Glucon D and ORS is recommended against dehydration.

    We will start the trek at 4 AM so that we can cover the maximum part of the climb before the sun gets overhead. The route has got two steep ascends before reaching the summit. Each of the climb will take an average of 2-3 hours each. The exact height of the peak is 5,964 meters.

    The descend takes around 4 hours for the base camp. Overnight in tents at base camp.

    Day 7- Descend to Kibber after brunch.

    We will start the day with a heavy breakfast for Kibber village. The descend to Kibber from base camp takes around 3 hours. Overnight at Kibber home stay.

    Day 8- Drive to Rumsu base camp.

    We will start the day with a jeep ride to Rumsu via the same route.

    Day 9- Departure to Manali from Rumsu.

    We will start after having majestic breakfast for  Manali bus stand. Departure will happen from Manali.
