About Jakkur Lake:
Located in Northern Bengaluru, the 1.5 km long Jakkur Lake is rich in biodiversity, supports the livelihood of fishermen.It also allows bio-diversity to thrive in the lake and its surrounds. The lake was fenced and de-silted. Islands were created for birds and trees were planted on the sides of the lake.
As this lake has more than 100 + Species of birds, commonly found are Grey heron, Painted stork, Pelicans, Purpule morehen, pirina, Cormorants, Egret, Pond Heron, Asian Koel, Indian roller, blue kingfisher, king fisher, sun bird, Purpule rumped sunbird, Paddyfield pipit, Large pied wagtail, Bee eater, Pheasant tailed Jacana, Purpule heron…join us to find out more.
