Itinerary

Day1:- Dharamshala to Liyoti via Kareri Village

• Altitude 4750ft/1,450m to 8,000ft/2,450m via 5,900ft/1,800m
• Pickup from Dharamshala Bus stand at 10:00 am
• Drive to Kareri Village 2 hours, 25km
• Kareri Village to Liyoti Trek
• Trek 4-5 hours, 6km
• Some packed snacks for the trek and Hot lunch will be given at the camp site
• Water points:- Many small springs and a big waterfall along the trail
• Shops on the way, only in peak season
• Trail Type:- Mixed forest of Pine, Deodar and Broadleaf
• Difficulty Level:- Mostly ascent, the steep ascent in some parts
• Can leave extra luggage at Kareri Village
• Stay in Tents
• Trek briefing by Trek Leader at Kareri Village
• Last ATM at Dharamshala

Day2:- Liyoti to Kareri Lake Trek

• Altitude 8,000ft/2,450m to 9,650ft/2,950m
• 4-5 hours, 7km
• Many water points (trek is along with the river)
• Some packed snacks for the trek and Hot lunch will be given at campsite
• Shops on the way, only in peak season
• Trail Type:- Grass meadows and boulders
• Difficulty level:- Gradual and easy ascent
• Stay in Tents
• The campsite is on 15 minutes of walking distance from Kareri Lake Trek
• Kareri Lake Trek holds several Holy stories

Day3:- Kareri Lake Trek to Kareri Village and drive to Dharamshala

• Altitude 9,650ft/2,950m to 5,900ft/1,800m drive to 4750ft/1,450m
• Trek 5-6 hours, 13 km
• Drive 2hours, 25km
• Many water points (trek is along with the river)
• Packed Lunch
• Shops on the way, only in peak season
• Mostly decent, steep descent in some parts
• Reach Dharamshala at 5:30pm

Things to Carry

  1. Backpack & rain cover: (50 – 60 ltr) with comfortable shoulder straps
  2. Day pack + rain cover: 20 – 30 ltr (If hire a mule or porter)
  3. Walking stick: Advisable (At least one)
  4. Head torch: 1 Nos.
  5. Water bottle/Hydration pack: 2 bottles of one litre each
  6. People who use a hydration pack
    1 hydration pack and 1 bottle of one litre
    Carry at least one thermos flask
    Snacks Energy bars, dry fruits, electral/ors
