Jim Corbett National Park is located in the northern part of the state of Uttar Pradesh. It is named in honor of the legendary hunter turned naturalist, author and photographer, Jim Corbett, who had helped in demarcating the boundaries and setting up the park. It was in this area that he had shot the dreaded “man-eaters”, the notorious Kanda man eater being one of them. His books on these thrilling true life adventures – “The Man eaters of Kumaon” and the “Man eating Leopard of Rudraprayag” are perennial best sellers, well known all over the world. Once, a popular hunting ground of the British, this 201 square mile park is today the home to a variety of flora and fauna. It is famous for its population of Royal Bengal Tigers, leopards and Asian elephants. Corbett National Park is India’s first national park and is the first sanctuary to come under Project Tiger, started to protect the tiger population of India. With the help of the World Wildlife Fund, Project Tiger was launched in Corbett National Park in 1973.

Jim Corbett National Park, which is a part of the larger Corbett Tiger Reserve, a Project Tiger Reserve lies in the Nainital district of Uttarakhand. Day 1 Delhi – Jim Corbett National Park

Arrive Jim Corbett National Park, situated in the foothills of the Himalayas. It is named in honor of the legendary hunter turned naturalist, author and photographer, Jim Corbett, who had helped in demarcating the boundaries and setting the park up. Arrive at Lodge just outside the Park. Lunch. Afternoon at leisure. Besides being home to the Bengal Tiger and the endangered gharial, Corbett is home to about 580 species of birds making it a bird watcher’s paradise. An evening bird watching walk in the outskirts of the National Park. Evening briefing on the surrounding forest and wildlife. Dinner and overnight at lodge.

Day 2: At Corbett

Full day’s excursion to Dhikala, considered the most picturesque location inside the park and the areas around it especially Dhikala Chaur abound in wild life. Lunch at Dhikala. Drive back to lodge. Before dinner, a short video film on the flora and fauna of the area. Dinner and overnight at the Lodge

Day 3: At Corbett

After an early morning safari, drive back.
