Trekking and Forest Camping at Agumbe from Hyderabad

At the periphery of Chikkamagalur, Shivamogga and South Canara on the ghats lies Agumbe, which is known as rainforest, after Cheerupunji its the second place as it receives heavy rains in South. That is forms a part of the Malnad-Kodagu corridor, which also includes the Someshwara, Mookambika, Bhadra, and Sharavati Wildlife Sanctuaries, Kudremukh National Park. Also various other forest tracts and reserve forests around Kundapur, Shankaranarayana, Hosanagara, Sringeri, and Thirthahalli Wildlife Sanctuaries.

What to See and do in this Agumbe Trek

  • Barkana and Kunchikal Falls: The spectacular Barkana waterfall is a 7 Km drive from Agumbe. That is Forming a V-shaped valley, the river Sita graces the land. Whilst Barkana falls descends from a height of 850 ft, Kunchikal Falls descends from a height of 1493 feet. Therefore, these are definitely must-visits.
  • Kudlu Theertha Falls: This fall is located at a distance of 20 Km from Agumbe and drops from a height of 126 feet. To reach Kudlu Theertha Falls, you will have to take a sharp left to Hebri and then another left after 4 km. At the end of your trial, you will reach River Sita. Use the Burma bridge to get to the other side of the river and head straight through the jungles. After trekking for 3 to 4 km, you will reach the Kudlu Theertha Falls.
  • Nishani Gudda: This bare mountain is quite fascinating for trekkers where the trail runs amidst dense woods. The trek is 3.5 kilometers from Agumbe.
  • Jogigundi falls: If you want to hike, then Jogigundi is the perfect destination. Deriving its name from a saint named Jogi, this falls is just about 10-15 minutes from Agumbe. A small pond originates here and makes its way through a 50 ft deep cave. So Be careful of leeches and other insects on your hiking route. Because they can harm you.
  • Onke Abbi falls: Onke Abbi falls plunges from an elevation of 500 meters and is a 4 Km trek from Agumbe. So, You will have to trek through the therapeutic.

Itinerary

Day Activities:

Day 0:

Start from Hyderabad (4 pick up spots - Will be updated soon)

Day 1

Reach Campsite, Check-in, Freshen up, have breakfast and head out for beautiful Koodlu falls, have packed lunch, visit Malgudi Day's house, visit beautiful sunset at Barkana viewpoint, head back to Campsite, Dinner (Veg & Non-Veg) & Campfire at nyte..(sleep in the tents)

Day 2:

Freshen up, have breakfast and head out for a trek to beautiful Onake Abbi falls, (will pack our lunch), visit Agumbe Wild Forest Research station, head out to amazing view of Kundadri hills to visit the sunset, head back to Campsite for Dinner and sleep in the tents!

Day 3:

Wake up late, have breakfast, and head to Malpe Beach of Udupi for a day of adventure activities cum water sports, play at the beach until you can't stand anymore (Because of Monsoons some or all water sports may not be available, in which case we will play at the beach & chill out leisurely), freshen up at beach's change rooms, try awesome Udupi street food, shop till the bags are full & the pennies are nil, head back to Bangalore around 10 PM.

Day 4:

Reach Hyderabad by 10 AM  (Drop at some locations) Important note: Depending on Forest department permissions at that time we may change/skip Koodlu/Onake Abbi fall routes. In this case, we have equally amazing alternate spots (Example: Sirimanne falls). Agumbe is full of exuberant Wild forest, magnificent waterfalls & amazing trek trails.
