Tungnath is the highest Shiva temple in the world and is the highest of the five Panch Kedar temples located in the mountain range of Tunganath in Rudraprayag district, in Uttarakhand. Tungnath means “lord of the mountains”.
How to reach Tungnath:
By Air :
The nearest airport to Tungnath is the Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun. Cabs are available from there.
By Rail :
The nearest railway station to Tungnath is Haridwar which lies at a distance of 225 km from Chopta. Taxi or buses are available outside the station till Chopta from where the journey begins on foot. Tungnath can be reached through the Kund-Gopeshwar road.
By Road :
State-owned buses and private buses run regularly to and fro from the neighbouring cities and states to Chopta. If you are travelling from Delhi to Chopta, you have to cover a distance of nearly 448 km on road and remaining 3.5 km on foot till Tungnath. The trek from Chopta to Tungnath can be easily covered in 2-3 hours.

If you are fond of trekking and camping, Deoria Tal is a perfect place for overnight camping and jungle trekking. This small lake is located about 3 km away on the trekking path between two villages namely Sari and Mastura Village on the chief Ukhimath-Chopta Road.
What to eat in Tungnath:
Tungnath is a small village, where apart from dhabas you will not find any other eating outlets. Make sure you carry some food while travelling in and around the village.
